  Aeroflot Russian Airlines is the national carrier of Russia, with headquarters based in the capital city of Moscow. The airline is one of the oldest in the world and began operations in 1923, although the brand name was chosen in 1932. Aeroflot began as a state owned airline but has now become semi privatised and profitable. Aeroflot over the next decades became a very large airline, with an aircraft fleet of Russian made planes. With the breakup of the Soviet Union in the 1990's there followed a period of time of major changes in the airline. In the past Aeroflot had suffered from safety and reliability issues. Using western expertise to advise new methods, Aeroflot over the next years introduced western planes into service and also other necessary restructuring changes into the airline. At the 2012 Skytrax World Airline Awards,held in the UK, Aeroflot Russian Airlines was rated runner up Best East European Regional Airline.

  Aeroflot Russian Airlines is considered a 3 star airline with an aircraft fleet of 119 planes ( Aug 2012 ) and travelling to 116 destinations. The safety record of the airline had not been good in the 20th century but in recent years has been much improved with no incidents or accidents recorded. The cabin service and conditions are a good standard. Inflight entertainment is also a good standard with video options available.There are two categories of ticket available on flights - Business and Economy Class.   S7 Airlines is a Russian airline, with headquarters based in Novosibirsk Oblast in Western Siberia,Russia. The airline began operations as a regional carrier in 1992, under the name of Siberia Airlines. The following years Siberia Airlines increased in size merging with numerous small regional airlines. In 2005, the current brand name of S7 Airlines was chosen as part of a new marketing launch, with successful results and leading the airline to becoming the fastest growing and biggest domestic airline in Russia. At the 2012 Skytrax World Airline Awards,held in the UK, S7 Airlines was rated eighth Best East European Regional Airline.

  S7 Airlines is considered a 3 star airline with an aircraft fleet of 48 planes ( Apr 2010 ) and travelling to 87 destinations. The cabin service and conditions are a good standard with good passenger approval. Inflight entertainment is limited on flights. There are two categories of ticket available - Business and Economy Class. The airline's website is user friendly and easy to make a flight booking.The safety record has suffered in the last decade with two fatal domestic flight incidents for the airline. In 2004, a S7 Airlines domestic flight from Moscow to Sochi suffered a terrorist bomb explosion on board, near Rostov-on-Don with all 46 on board losing their lives. Later in 2006, an S7 Airlines flight on landing at Irkutsk Airport overshot the runway and crashed into a barricade with the loss of 124 lives. New safety regulations were introduced following this incident and to date no further incidents or accidents have been recorded.

  S7 Airlines now provides travellers with a good air travel option for domestic Russian and international destinations and should be considered when booking a flight.

  Transaero Airlines is a Russian airline with headquarters based at Domodedovo International Airport,Moscow. The airline began operations in 1991 as a private company with charter flights and using leased planes from the airline Aeroflot. Since then Transaero Airlines has expanded the size of the aircraft fleet and number of domestic and international destinations. The airline has now scheduled routes and introduced the latest western aircraft, replacing the older Russian designed planes. The progress the airline has made was rewarded at the 2012 Skytrax World Airline Awards,held in the UK, by coming runner up for the Most Improved World Airline and rated as Best East European Regional Airline.

  Transaero Airlines is considered a 3 star airline with an aircraft fleet of 92 planes ( Aug 2012 ) and travelling to 156 destinations. The safety record is good with no recent incidents or accidents recorded to date. The cabin service and conditions are a good standard with complimentary meals provided on board. Inflight entertainment is available on long haul but limited on short haul flights. There are three categories of ticket available on flights - First,Business and Economy Class. The airline's website is user friendly and easy to make a flight booking.

  Transaero Airlines being a new airline has made good progress in recent years for airline service and provides travellers with a good option for domestic Russian destinations and international cities.
