Royal Jordanian is the national carrier for the state of Jordan, with headquarters based in the capital city of Amman. The airline began operations in 1963, after a royal decree announced by the late King Hussein, known then as Alia. The state owned airline made steady progress increasing the aircraft fleet and routes over the early period of its growth. In 1986 the airline changed the brand name from Alia to Royal Jordanian and recently in 2007 became privatised. The airline over the years has continued to introduce new methods and modern aircraft to compete with the other high quality Middle Eastern Airlines carriers and is the only large Arabic carrier that has flights going to Israel.
Royal Jordanian is considered a 3 star airline with an aircraft fleet of 32 planes ( March 2012 ) and travelling to 61 destinations mostly in the Middle East and Africa. The safety record of the airline is good with no recent incidents or accidents recorded. The cabin service and conditions are a good standard with good passenger approval. Inflight entertainment provided offers passengers many options, including video on demand,television shows,audio and games on personal TV monitors. Catering available is a good standard with several meal options. There are two categories of ticket available on flights - Business and Economy Class. The airline's website is user friendly and easy to make a flight booking.
