  Cathay Pacific Airways is currently one the leading airlines of the world and is the flag carrier of Hong Kong, with its headquarters based at the International Airport. The airline began operating in 1946, taking its name from the ancient name given to China and a hope that one day the airline would fly across the Pacific Ocean. Cathay Pacific has made great strides from its early days expanding in size as a result of taking over its rival Hong Kong Airways in the early period, followed by investing profits into a larger fleet of aircraft to increase its routes around the world.   Cathay Pacific is considered a 5 star airline with an aircraft fleet of 111 planes ( Mar 2012 ) and travelling to 115 destinations worldwide. The safety record is very good, with only a recent incident in 2010, when a Cathay Pacific flight made an emergency landing at Hong Kong International Airport. Unfortunately 57 passengers were injured as a result of the plane having suffered engine failure, due to contaminated fuel. The cabin service and conditions are a high standard in all cabin areas, as one would expect from a highly rated airline. There are 4 categories of ticket available on flights - First,Business Premium Economy and Economy class. The Inflight Entertainment available on Cathay Pacific flights sets the airline standards, offering personal TV monitors showing the latest movies using the Audio Video On Demand(AVOD system),TV shows, large music selection and wide choice of games. The airline website is user friendly and easy to make a flight booking.

  This airline is one of the best in the world and provides travellers with a high standard of travel that is available.   Dragonair is an international airline with its headquarters based in Hong Kong. The airline began operating in 1985 and in the early period had strong rivalry with the larger Cathay Pacific resulting in Dragonair limited to only opening up the domestic routes in China. The following years Dragonair made progress, expanding routes as a result of steady profits. In 2005 Cathay Pacific decided to takeover this emerging airline with the aim of letting Dragonair cover the domestic routes in the Asian region. With the backing of its parent company Dragonair has now become an important airline in this region being rewarded with awards and at the recent 2012 Skytrax World Airline Awards in the UK was runner up Best Asian Regional Airline.

  Dragonair is considered a 4 star airline with an aircraft fleet of 35 planes (April 2012) and travelling to 36 destinations mostly in Asia. The safety record of the airline is good with no incidents recorded. There are two categories of ticket available on flights - Business and Economy. The cabin service and conditons are a very good standard with high passenger approval. There is inflight entertainment on flights providing video and music options on individual TV monitors which is surprising as most flights are short haul. The airline's website is user friendly and easy to make a flight booking.
