Estonian Air is the national flag carrier of Estonia with headquarters based in Tallinn. The airline was established by the Estonian government and began operating in 1991. The first aircraft in service were acquired from the airline Aeroflot but over the following years these were replaced with western aircraft. Estonian Air in the early years had close ties with the large Scandinavian airline SAS, being a large minority shareholder and providing operation advice for the airline. The Estonian government has now become again the main shareholder of the airline and committed to investing in the airline's future. At the 2012 Skytrax World Airline Awards,held in the UK, Estonian Air was rated fifth Best Northern European Airline.
Estonian Air is considered a 3 star airline with a small aircraft fleet of 11 planes ( Mar 2012 ) travelling to 24 destinations. The safety record of the airline is good with no recent incidents or accidents recorded to date. The cabin service and conditions are a good standard. Inflight entertainment is limited, as most flights are short haul.There are two categories of ticket available on flights - Business and Economy Class.
