This new airline began operating in 2007 and came into being as a result of the shutdown of BWIA West Indies Airways. Caribbean Airlines flies to international destinations in USA,Canada and South America. In 2010 Caribbean Airlines acquired the airline Air Jamaica and as result increasing the routes and planes available. Caribbean Airlines is making progress in the airline industry with recognition at the 2011 Skytrax Airline Awards held in Paris, being placed 3rd Best Airline in the Caribbean/Central American region.
Caribbean Airlines is considered a 3 star airline with a small aircraft fleet of 26 planes travelling to 18 destinations. The safety record of the airline is a good standard,although in 2011 a Caribbean Airline flight overran the runway in rainy weather,crashing through the perimeter fencing,resulting in several injuries. The cabin service and conditions are an acceptable standard for short haul flights. Inflight entertainment is limited on flights. The airline's website is user friendly and easy to make a flight booking.
