  Air Arabia is a budget airline and based in the city of Sharjah in the state of Sharjah ( United Arab Emirates ).This airline is the largest budget carrier in the Middle East with a small modern aircraft fleet of 28 planes ( Aug 2011 ) covering 66 route destinations. Air Arabia only commenced operations in 2003 and has made successful and profitable progress since then.

  Air Arabia is considered to be a 3 star airline providing a good standard of service for passengers. Passengers benefit from the low airfares available and for those on a small budget provide a good option to the other major airlines to travel in the Middle East region.

  This airline has subsidiaries in Morocco and Egypt providing access to further destination routes. Air Arabia has a good safety record with only a slight incident in 2010 when there was smoke detected in a hold of an aircraft. This turned out to be a fault and the plane landed safely with no harm to any of the passengers.

  Emirates Airlines is a 4 star airline and is ranked by Skytrax in 2011 as the tenth Best World Airline and was awarded the airline with Best World Airline Inflight Entertainment. Surprisingly Emirates Airlines have won this award since 2003 against much competition from the top airlines.

  The entertainment options available set the standard in the industry with personal screen seat entertainment providing on demand video film titles,live tv satellite channels and many audio options. Also available are video games,internet and e-mail access.There are so many entertainment options that a passenger might not have enough time to make use of all the choices available before reaching their destination.

  This airline sets a high quality standard and only in the roominess of the seating area of the Economy section and some aspects of the cabin service do not score as high as the other areas.

  Etihad Airways are based in Abu Dhabi ( United Arab Emirates ) and commemced operations in 2003. In only a few years this airline has established itself as one of the top airlines in the world. Etihad Airways is regarded now as a 4 star airline and only recently named by Skytrax in 2011 as the sixth Best World Airline,receiving also the awards of Best World Airline First Class and Best World Airline First Class Onboard Catering.

  The First Class and Business sections are regarded as setting the standards for First Class travel with flat bed options and very comfortable seating for passengers. On selected routes a chef is on board for preparation of a variety of meals and passengers are able to decide at what time they wish to have their meals. The Inflight Entertainment is also of a high standard with a wide selection of options available including internet access,live tv channels and the telephone facility. The area where the scoring is not so high is the Economy section where the cabin service does not quite reach the heights of the First Class cabin area.

  Gulf Air is based in the kingdom of Bahrain and is one of the oldest airlines in the Middle East commencing operations in 1950. During the 1980’s there was a strong rivalry with the newly formed nearby airline Emirates . Later in 2007 Gulf Air became fully owned by the government of Bahrain which helped to provide funding for the growing airline.

  Gulf Air is considered a 3 star airline and offers good value to passengers with attractively priced airfares to worldwide destinations. In recent years this airline has become more of a budget type airline due to the stiff competition of the oth er Middle East airlines. Gulf Air has a small aircraft fleet of 35 planes ( March 2011) travelling to 39 international destination routes. The turnover of aircraft is slower than compared to the other Middle East carriers but this airline continues to modernise its fleet with the latest planes.

  Passengers travelling First and Business class can expect a good quality of cabin service while Economy travellers might experience only a standard service.

  Gulf Air is able to offer travellers good value on airline prices and is worth considering to fly with when planning your flight.

  Oman Air is the national carrier for the state of Oman and it is based at the International airport of Muscat. The airline commenced operations in 1993 and has made great strides in recent years. The government of Oman in 2010 owned nearly 100 % of the airline, providing a strong backing for the expansion of this airline.

  Oman Air is considered now to be a 4 star airline and in 2011 won the Skytrax awards for Best Business Class Cabin Seats and the Service Excellence ( Middle East Region ) award. In 2010 this airline was the first airline to allow passengers mobile phone usage,text messaging and internet access on some routes. Cabin service is of a very high st andard for First and Business Class and even for Economy passengers.

  The airline has a small modern fleet of 26 planes ( May 2011 ) with 36 destination routes operating from its hub in Muscat with plans now to extend the long haul destinations available. There have been no accidents or incidents on record for this airline.

  Oman Air maybe a smaller airline compared to the other Middle East carriers but it offers a very high standard and should be considered when planning a flight.There is a strong possibility that this airline will soon achieve 5 star status.

The airline was also awarded the Best Middle East Airline and Best First Class Airline Lounge. This 5 star Middle East airline based in Doha,Qatar has made great progress since starting operations in 1994 with now one of the most modern airline fleets ( 102 aircraft Aug 2011 ) in the world.

  Since 1994 this airline has gained numerous awards amongst which the cabin staff are renowned for their excellent service. On long and short haul flights the cabin conditions are very highly rated especially the seat comfort. For First class,Business class and Economy passengers the standard of cabin service and comfort is very high. The airline is 5 star quality but a prospective traveller will be encouraged by the cost of the airline ticket available as on a par with the other national carriers. There are regular special offers available on over 100 different routes around the world and worth comparing for value with the other airlines.
